T. invited me to go to martial arts and Vic’s with him. I did. It was fun!
After, I dropped him off at home, then went over to The Paper Store to buy cards. I wrote on one and put it where R. would see it when he got up.
I made a cake. It’s the cake I always make, but instead of oil or margarine, I used cocoa butter. Yummy! I used cocoa butter for the frosting, too. Really excellent — I am thinking I’ll do a yellow or white cake with cocoa butter and maybe some cashew butter. Kind of a white chocolate cake. I really could take any of the cookies and turn them into cakes, now that I can see the transitions in the food processor.
A. had a belated birthday party to attend for her friend A., who is moving to California. They have been drifting apart, but it was nice that they got together. A. had bought A. some socks back in April and I put together a card for A. to sign (we have card stock, envelopes and gel pens for emergencies like these), and I found a gift bag and tissue paper. It was at Dunkin Donuts for about an hour, and I bought some munchkins. A. was really struggling emotionally, but once she settled down it went really well (I just said fuck it and facilitated a conversation and it seemed to go nicely. I know I probably ought to hide in the background, but it wasn’t looking good and this seemed like a good opportunity to try to rescue an unpleasant situation).
I did the 3 mile walk with R., dodging dribbling rain for the last half of it. Not too bad.
We went to Welly’s in Hudson and met the B. family. Then we all did Escape the Cape at Puzzlescape. It was really fun! No meltdowns, just a really good time.
