Sunday: pool closed, manic cleaning
Apr. 30th, 2023 02:40 pmThe pool was closed, but we did not realize that ahead of time, so A. and R. drove over there and came home frustrated. We offered A. a bath, but when she got in there, it wasn’t very clean and it really bothered her, so she got into the shower. I went up to help her wash her hair, and I heard about the tub not being clean, and I kinda lost my shit.
She had been shaving her legs (electric) into the tub, and the last time I took a bath, I’d had to clean it first. Fine. But then she’s complaining because I didn’t then clean it _after_ I took a bath, so it had a ring and some hair in it. Not fair! Classic case of Not Fair.
Anyway. I cleaned it. I did her hair. I cleaned the toilet in the same bathroom. I taught T. how to clean the toilet in the green bathroom. I decluttered the paper bags from the dentist stacked in the green bathroom. I cleaned the counter and the faucets and the sink in the green bathroom. T. vacuumed the green bathroom. So now both bathrooms upstairs actually look quite good. I did the sheets for A. and for me yesterday, and I’ve been doing some dusting and vacuuming and so forth.
Meanwhile, downstairs, I was cooking bacon. I’d already had to stop cooking the bacon, unplug the countertop oven, move it to the stove under the hood, so it would adequately remove bacon smell etc. from cooking the bacon because I wasn’t able to tolerate R. turning the hood up to 3. I pointed out that _this_ is why I wanted to get a new range. We’ve basically completely switched from the gas oven to the countertop oven, and I’ve identified a range that we agree would be Very Nice, and is electric, and has _two_ ovens in it as well as the cooktop and is induction. So we could go back to using the Real Oven instead of the countertop oven for things like bacon. Which we be great, because it would be under the hood. However, R. is being super slow about making a decision and then implementing on it. As in, months are going by.
Also, R. got out the bathtub finger paints (hadn’t seen those in a while, but he’s clearly getting into the spirit of Use It Or Get Rid of It) and they were just sitting there. Those are now in the trash. I also decluttered the ylang ylang scented Method from years ago because I really hate that smell. We haven’t bought any cleaner in forever and generally just don’t use it anyway.
But yeah. Manic cleaning. I hate it. I’m trying to read _Eighty Days_ for book group tomorrow. The book is actually quite good and I like the subject matter (the Bly / Bisland trips around the world), so reading it is not difficult. The interruptions and distractions, however, are really setting me off, mostly because since getting rained on during that 3 mile walk on Thursday, I’ve been leery of going out for a walk and quite cautious. I got a couple walks on Friday, but not since.
