I went over to Westford to pick up an all-IPA advent beer box at Craft Beer Cellar. While I was there, I bought 3 bourbons and a rye.
I also went to Whole Foods and got the obligatory vegan chocolate chip cookie, vegan chocolate doughnut, chocolate bars, meat candy (prosciutto and similar), but also okra, bell peppers, celery, fennel, some blueberries, a can of crushed tomatoes, some Forager yogurt. I had pulled chicken leg thighs and spicy chicken sausage out of the freezer, and thought, hey! I could make gumbo or jambalaya.
I wound up making gumbo. I made a lot of roux — way more than I normally would, just to see how that would go. It went great. An entire box of chicken bone broth went in with the mirepoix (allium free — I used celery, fennel and bell pepper), and then I cut up the sausage a bit and put that and the chicken in. I didn’t bother to cut up the thighs, since I figured I was going to cook them until the meat fell off the bones. I did. It was great. I totally forgot to put the parsley in. Oh well! I had the gumbo over rice. Mmmmmm.
I walked with M.
I did the long walk while chatting with Priestess. We talked about a variety of things, but also we talked about the Taika Waititi directed Belvedere Vodka ad with Daniel Craig. I’m not alone in finding Daniel Craig immensely appealing, but this ad hit _real_ different than he normally does. This ad hit me square in my catnip, which is genderfuckery, which was especially difficult to figure out because it isn’t swishy at all. R. and I talked about camera angles, hip movement, arm movement, etc. And then we poked around to better understand who was involved in this thing, and I think the most important bit of information was that the choreography was done by Jaquel Knight, altho I still want to know who had the bright idea to have so much of Craig’s movement to be movement that is _never_ male movement. I’m assuming Waititi, because, I mean, duh.
Absolutely brilliant, and probably the most catnippy thing ever.
