Tuesday: cold! Decluttering subscriptions
Nov. 8th, 2022 10:10 amIt’s Election Day. I’m assuming my few readers have already voted or are not eligible to vote for some reason. If it is Election Day when you read this AND you are eligible to vote AND you have not voted, please go do that! It’s important!
It’s cold today. Given that it is November, this is Appropriate, and I’m quite happy about it.
Today, I decided to declutter subscriptions. None of this is paper, but they still cost money, and create confusion and anxiety when there are Too Many, so I’m going to cut it back because I don’t even remember all of them. So far, I’ve canceled one audio streaming service (I don’t really need the Amazon Unlimited, because I have Prime, and if I change my mind that’s dead easy to turn back on. Honestly, _all_ of them are easy to turn on and off), three video streaming services (HBO Max, Apple TV Plus and Paramount Plus), and a lot of news subscriptions (Guardian, EdWeek, Insider and Wired), altho many of these have weeks or months still to run. I’m going to check in with R. later to find out which subscriptions he uses regularly, and contemplate canceling some more news subscriptions. I’ve been _wanting_ AJC for a while, but have felt too guilty about all the things I have and don’t read, that I haven’t. So, now I can. I got 3 months for 99 cents, and $2.99 / week thereafter, so we’ll see how that goes.
I have to say, the Duolingo subscription is absolutely the best value subscription I have (other than Amazon Prime, I suppose), in terms of I use it twice a day every day and have for years.
I cooked bacon, since the last batch I cooked was used up today. R. bought some very pretty small tomatoes (ha!) and lettuce arrived in yesterday’s CSA which meant I had all the ingredients for a BLT. I had it on the last of the home made bread from Sunday. Yum!
I’ve been poking around at small tasks (laundry, bill paying type things). I also ordered the all-IPA beer advent box from Craft Beer Cellar in Westford. I won’t be having any, but hopefully there will be something new and fun for R. If he’s had literally all of them before, I will never do that again.
