We did sheets today. So that’s nice.

A. had a swimming lesson, so she got a shower after and I did her hair.

I also had a shower today.

Yesterday / last night I made bread and got for real oven spring. I’ve never gotten it to work properly with a loaf. I used my sourdough (which is 100% whole grain) and a lot of King Arthur Special Patent and water, with oil for the glass loaf pan (and basted the top with it). Turned out great; the lack of salt was noticeable altho butter it and it’s fantastic. It qualifies as “restaurant bread” at least for A., who had a slice toasted instead of her waffle at breakfast, and a couple slices in a grilled cheese at lunch. I had some last night, and then made pizza toast with a couple slices for lunch. Yum.

The white flour sourdough I had set up last night expanded a _lot_ and behaved roughly like slime. Window pane to the nth degree. So I used that to make rolls and got crazy oven spring on those, too.

Finally, I got out the drum sieves and bolted some flour. I put the bran bits that I couldn’t reduce enough into the freezer (maybe I’ll top a loaf with them) and am using the rest in the experimental sourdough crock. We’ll see how this goes.

Rereading

I’ve been rereading a bit. I reread the Hidden Legacy books by Ilona Andrews. And then I thought, how about some James Alan Gardner. So I reread the Dark / Sparks books, _All Those Explosions Were Someone Else’s Fault_ and _They Told Me the Gun Wasn’t Loaded_. They are, oddly, even better on reread. And they were _fun_ the first time.

I’m not sure what’s next, but I’m going to try to do more rereading. I used to reread all the time when I was younger, and then I mostly stopped, and I’m so happy I’ve started again.
