Sunday: Father’s Day, Icemaker, Visitors
Jun. 19th, 2022 10:36 pmI walked with M.
We had A. set up for her virtual playdate in her room, because it was going to overlap with the arrival of visitors. One of R.’s nieces, and one of R.’s cousins arrived around 4:30 — not together. The niece was planned for a while; the cousin was a more recent development. Niece stayed for dinner. The kids and R. had burgers. Niece and I had chicken and waffle with strawberry sauce. It was really good. I had a Jack’s Abbey Cinnamon Roll (a dark lager); it was really good.
R. set up the new icemaker. It makes hotel ice maker type ice. Very nice!
I’m really loving the new electric kettle with the temperature presets. It makes my pourover coffee much less better; I was pouring it too hot with the kettle with no presents (it just boiled, and I wasn’t waiting long enough for the temperature to drop).
I walked with niece — about 2 miles. Lots of great convo, including during Family Zoom. Niece’s dad (BIL) is an amazing cook with tons of experience and lots of training including taking classes at CIA in NY Back in the Day. Growing up, she learned a lot about shopping and cooking and reusing leftovers. She had so many wonderful insights into how waste happens from her experience, and from watching friends. Packaging sizes being too large is a big component of the problem, which I’m mostly aware of, but maybe I don’t really understand in as much detail as I could.
