Tuesday: illness, but better
May. 3rd, 2022 11:00 pmWell, today was kind of a horrifying day politically (draft majority decision written by Alito leaked, and I learned that my son has fallen back into the Faux News Hole).
A. is still ill; I let her sleep in. I slept in. That was great.
I got 2 walks by myself; still not hanging out with M., out of an overabundance of caution. Or whatever.
By the end of the day, A. was doing her schoolwork and asking to be woken up the next morning. She feels better, looks better, sounds better and also really wants to go out for ice cream with her friends after school tomorrow. That should not be discounted, I think, but also not over thought.
I watched Taylor Tomlinson’s _Look at You_ on Netflix. It was uproariously funny, and exactly the unrelated dark humor I really needed. I followed it up with Ali Wong, but that was also how I realized what my son was consuming on Faux News and went to have another check in with him about whether he has lost clarity on a woman’s right to control her own body. All through the orange guy years, he hadn’t developed any confusion on that, but now he has. I really cannot express how furious and disappointed I am.
