Saturday: Day of (Mostly) Cancel
Jan. 8th, 2022 11:00 pmI contacted the martial arts instructor and explained that I have been ill, but that T. was fine and R. could bring him in. The martial arts instructor has had some experience of catching crap from the kiddos he teaches and said, ya know, let’s just give it a week. Sensible man.
The piano teacher is still in Florida.
I _thought_ the dinner — scheduled over a month ago — with friends would be canceled, but I felt terrible canceling for three healthy people, so I didn’t. I let them make the decision and they had a delightful time. R. woke up with a scratchy throat. *sigh* Fingers crossed that no one else catches it.
I did have a _brief_ visit with M., and I wore a mask the whole time.
It’s just going to take a few weeks for all of this to shake out. In the meantime, I did some laundry, dusting, and online shopping. I thawed some garlic ginger sausage, and cooked it with some cabbage in the leftover broth. That was _awesome_ altho it did need mustard.
The online ordering is for the next trip to Florida / summer clothes, so that’s fun to do. R. has been wearing some really nice nylon shorts, so I went looking for something in that rough space — technical fabrics but with a more fashion design (without being in any way trendy because I do glory in my middle-aged woman anonymity). I found a couple possibilities and one of them is great and the other is okay. It’ll be nice to switch from the technical skirt to shorts, because Theme Park Rides and skirts are annoying. Not impossible, but annoying. I went through the closet to work out the inevitable layering problems of traveling from winter in New England to Florida, and found a color compatible pullover fleece that I like but rarely wear. I went looking for leggings, and found a bunch that I loathe, so I also did some inadvertent decluttering. I also ditched a pair of very worn cargo pants that I had been hanging onto for the pockets, but I finally broke down and bought a lightweight vest with pockets.
I also learned that Very Peri is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2022, and this cracked me up because the hoodie that I bought on the cruise is basically that color, and the skechers sweats I wear a ton are a paler version of that color.
