Happy Holidays!
Dec. 13th, 2021 10:17 pmFor Reasons, we opened presents today. It was fun. As with last year, we texted the people who sent the kids and us presents pictures of the presents opened by the recipient. I love doing this. Unlike writing thank you notes, I actually _do this_, and people seem happy to get the pictures, and … it’s just nice, and feels almost like they are kind of there enjoying the gift-giving process in its final stage.
I walked with M. I also did a one mile walk by myself. I had a nice chat with Priestess. It was a really enjoyable, low-key day.
ALSO! I downloaded Tiny Bird Garden. It is a delightful, calm, relaxing app, where you decorate a garden to appeal to birds, who then visit and leave you reviews on social media (in game). They leave feathers, which are in game currency for getting more toys for the birds to play with. There is also a tamagotchi element called the nursery where you can raise a baby bird — feeding it, washing it, petting it and turning the lights out so that it rests. Also, because, bird, you have to deal with bird poop. Ha! Unlike tamagotchi, your bird does not abruptly die on you. So, yay! I downloaded Tiny Bird Garden in the course of a convo with Priestess about looking for games by black developers. I still cannot believe I have never specifically sought out games written by women / queer people / BIPOC, but if this is an example of what’s out there, I definitely want more.
