I took T. to martial arts. He wants to go to Vic’s; I told him we can do that next week, when he’ll be a little over a week past his first shot, and I will officially be fully vaccinated. Vic’s is indoors, and I’m concerned it might get crowded. It’ll be nice to go back, tho, and I’m glad they made it through and are still open!

I decided that if we are getting the kids vaccinated, and talking about indoor dining, then it is probably approaching the End of the The Duration. So I took the cards and the swag down from the mantel. I’ll try to get at least the tree in my office down later today; not sure if A. wants to keep hers up or not.

Generally speaking, when someone is complaining about tone, they would _like_ to complain about content, but they know it would make them look bad.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/biden-masks-vaccinated/2021/05/15/914a18c6-b4d5-11eb-a980-a60af976ed44_story.html

This is a _perfect_ example of a situation where a bunch of the participants really want to argue with the _content_, but since they are in no position to do so, they instead complain about the delivery or the tone, rather than engage with the content. Which they don’t like.

If this has been signaled in any more detail ahead of time, it would have _undermined_ the actual message — must continue to mask and social distance. You cannot signal this. And when you _do_ make the announcement, all the components need to be aligned. Which means that it will take a little while to get everything to match up.

*sigh*
