Thursday: a very pretty day

I did the long walk by myself.
R. took the car in to the dealer to have the front right tie bar replaced; it failed inspection. I took the van to Roche Bros. to do curbside grocery pickup.
T. went tubing.
The 4 of us played Exploding Kittens. That was fun to do as a family.
Lots of phone conversations: with my sister, with R., with K. Today is apparently resignation day, while everyone speculates wildly about the 25th amendment vs. impeachment and a quickie trial vs. both.
The school handled things fairly well. I made sure the kids understood to let me know if they heard anyone trying to justify the terrorist attack; they were really clear that that did NOT happen (I did not expect it to).
ETA: Apparently there was even more widespread attacks around the country, including on the Washington State governor’s mansion. Gov. Hogan of Maryland supplied some detail about the timeline on sending help, and his difficulty getting authorization from the feds to send in Maryland’s national guard. That is super scandalous — clearly, there was an effort from the very top to thwart any assistance to protect the Capitol.
