Monday: kinda dreary outside
Oct. 26th, 2020 10:29 pmWe completely forgot to take T. to his swimming lesson. Ooops! We got a makeup lesson next Saturday. Hopefully, we will not forget that one. R. went to Trader Joe’s, so we are less out of things than we were before that trip.
We cooked the turkey hash from Sun Basket for dinner. I have to remember to put large quantities of greens into my hashes. That is so good. I usually put some veg in, but more greens is awesome.
I took A. out to the donation bins by HG to get her out of the house while R. practiced piano. Then we went to McDonald’s and picked up dinner for her and T. I got her an apple pie, instead of cookies, because the cookies make her wicked sleepy.
I had a headache all day. I still did the 3 mile loop in the afternoon. M. did not feel like walking because of all the wet leaves on the ground from the rain and drizzle this morning and throughout the day.
I am reading _Clean_, by James Hamblin, the guy who wrote the article about not showering and skin microbiomes. The historical overview is pretty terrible, but the interviews with skin care industry folk are pretty interesting. This is sort of a weird experience, because in some ways, it is absolutely aligned with how I think about things, but in other ways, it is still so focused on What A Big Change To Think About Things This Way. And I am like, hey, I have been using the same Simple Soap for over 25 years (Molly has apparently sold the operation, but it is still a going concern in the Methow Valley, and still orderable online), still using the same Earthscience Fragrance Free shampoo and conditioner a couple times, sometimes 3, a week, that I have been using for probably close to 20 years now, and still not using any deodorant or antiperspirant, for a comparable amount of time. It no longer seems all that worthy of paying attention to? But I also know that it is, and I know how wildly time and energy consuming the Need for a Skin Care Regime is for most people. I am probably not the audience for this book. OTOH, I have finally got some kind of clue what a whole bunch of people have referred to around me over the last few years that I really had no idea what was even going on nor did I have the inclination to try to understand it. So, yay?
