For the first time since March 14, I went somewhere other than around the block. We drove over the Chelmsford to sign refi paperwork; R. locked in kind of an amazing rate. Not that we really needed it, but, you know. It was there. We left T. at home, and gave A. the choice of staying with him or coming with us and staying in the van; she took the van option.
Sign on the door with directions to go into the conference room and call people to let them know we were there. Chairs designated at one end of the conference table, described as disinfected. They gave us a pen and told us to keep it. All pretty reasonable.
When we got back, I pulled the five pound pack of chicken backs from Walden out of the freezer and we went through the fridge and pulled out carrots, celery, fennel to chop up for the stock. No onion or garlic, of course. R. wanted to pull a dried chili pepper in it. I did not want that because I am hoping to convince the kids to give this a try. We got out a really big All-Clad stock pot out; it is really nice. Stock turned out fine. I am going to use the chicken and veg (which still look pretty decent) as shredded in tortillas or maybe do a noodle dish. The stock mostly went into two containers and into the freezer. I had bought the pack of chicken backs for this purpose, and am pleased that I got around to doing this during the month that I received it (not like, say, years later, when it was all freezer burned, which would be a lot more typical of me).
A. did not complete all her school work. She still has the storytelling through art drawing assignment to do. But that is okay; she can always catch up Friday if she needs to.
