This week in A.’s school, she has a unit on birds: John James Audubon and other artists who drew birds, watching videos of how to draw birds, drawing birds using the videos as a basis, tomorrow will be drawing birds from bird cams.
It was less painful than expected. I am mostly crap at drawing, however, I am perfectly capable of seeing proportion and orientation. The bird videos are mostly about draw the circles / ovals, and then shading, curve smoothing, filling in details. We shall see how this goes with video of actual birds tomorrow.
Shanghai Disney is starting its phased reopening soon: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/05/its-time-for-magic-shanghai-disneyland-begins-phased-reopening-on-may-11/ The Parks blog also posted something from the Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer which included this:
“This will likely include implementation of guest capacity measures to comply with state and federal guidelines. We’re also exploring ways to use technology to aid us in these efforts, like with our Play Disney Parks App and through virtual queues at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.”
I noticed in February at DisneyLand that we all learned super quick exactly how to use and maximize the odds of getting a reservation through the boarding groups for Rise of the Resistance. I was spooky watching everyone stop, furiously tap their screens, and then cheer, or, sadly, a few minutes later go in search of a cast member because their screen had frozen. Universal had already been using virtual queues since the opening of Race Through New York (and, more recently, the motorbike ride). I expect to see more of this anyway, but especially as a way to minimize crowding into lines / space devoted to lines.
I poked around at the WDW reservations page; they are accepting reservations (I mean, not for today, obviously, but for the future).
