My alarm went off this morning. Oops! Hard to believe that last Saturday, schools had been closed one day, and we were going about our more or less normal routine, but expecting it to shut down at any moment. Since then, it definitively has. The only activity that happened was piano lessons, walks with M., and of course my phone call schedule.

No martial arts. No Vic's. NVUB Basketball was done for the season anyway. No track. No swimming lessons -- but swimming lessons might conceivably return. No hair cut. No dental cleaning. No school. No sitter.

There has been quite a lot of cooking. Today, I made brownies. I took some of the fish and peas from last night's dinner, added an egg and cilantro and had a fish frittata for lunch. I finished the hash browns with it. All the restaurants are closed, but Chez Walkitout has a steady, regular set of customers, with creative comfort cooking the focus of the menu, which changes daily.

I have some questions! Here is one:

There are SARS survivors. Some of them have organized to help make sure Hong Kong does not suffer from this virus as it did from the earlier one. I wonder if surviving SARS granted them some degree of immunity? Perhaps in the future, we will have some data.

And another:

What will happen to buffet restaurants, salad bars, hotel grab-your-own breakfasts?

I dragged my husband and daughter out for a walk. They pooh-poohed the idea she should wear a jacket over her hoodie. After a bit, we returned home, got a jacket and tried again.

We plan to rent Onward tonight at 6 pm.
