walkitout: (Default)
The kids do not have school today. The sitter will come a little later. I am going to attempt a walk this morning; we shall see if it happens.

I do not have any other major plans for the day, altho it would be nice to sort through some more stuff, and maybe run some errands to mail things and donate things. Basically, get stuff out of the house day.

I signed T. up for the Mayors Cup cross country; I could find no online registration this year, so that involves a paper check for $5 (!!) in a paper envelope with an actual stamp. Shocking! He wants to do the Sleepy Hollow fun run, the day before the Mayors cup. So I checked with R.; they will run it together. That one I could do online registration for.

ETA: I have had moderate success. I did go to the post office and send the book I recently read to my friend for her to try. I also sorted through the massive craft storage shelving and picked out things to donate or recycle (recycled coloring books that had a lot of coloring in them, for example, and tossed out dried up modeling compound, for example). I had A. look through what was headed out and of over two dozen items, she only chose to keep a couple. She wanted some others because they were pink, but when I showed her what the coloring book was like inside, she lost interest. I definitely have not made enough space on the shelving for the stack of recent acquisitions (birthday plus Scholastic order), but it is at least possible to see what everything is now. Mostly.

Unfortunately, while I got one load of laundry completely through the process, the dryer quit working after that was done but I did not realize that until I went to put in quite a large load of towels. Gah. I called Hunter; they cannot come out until Wednesday morning. Double gah. Papalia referred me to Hunter. Bright here in town looks like a one person shop or ver small, and went straight to voice mail. R. can have a look at the board when he gets home and see if it is some kind of obvious oh that needs to be soldered back down. That is apparently a common cause of F-01 errors, and was also what went wrong on the Miele vacuum that he successfully fixed. Otherwise, wait until Wednesday.

A. and I went out to West Concord, put the towels in a dryer there (for future purposes, the guy running that place overestimates. He thought 35-40 minutes to dry the towels; they were crispy dry at 35. I think 30 would have done it. I was going to do 25.) and then walked over to Concord Teacakes. I got a coconut macaroon (they do have milk free options!) and A. got a cupcake. I had an iced tea and she had a coke. We managed to turn a significant annoyance into a really fun outing. We stopped and mailed the book on the way home.
