Today, A., T. and I went for one last visit to Heerenveen to see A. Also there were her son and grandson, which was nice. We had thought before the trip we would not see them, but it worked out in the end. That was nice. We kept it short, so she would have energy for her son and grandson.
A. and I went swimming. That was fun. She is now tall enough that the 1.4 meter pool did not freak her out. We like the current better at the Bosrijk pool (Best Pool Ever!), but this one was fun, too. We did not do the water slide. T. had done it a bunch on a previous visit 4 years ago,
I tried to get salt for A.’s plain chicken breast that we cooked for her, but I went after the store had closed and the restaurant had no paper packets like for take out. BUT they did baggie up some (quite a lot, actually!) which was extraordinarily kind of them.
We returned the bikes. T. rode his into Koudum about a kilometer away to get dinner at a snackbar. We were not sure if he would be back in time to return it before they closed; they were fine either way. But in the end, he got it done.
While we were in Heerenveen, R. rented a valk, and sailed. It is a bit too big of a boat for one person to sail, however, the only other choice was an Optimist. He managed it! I tried to avoid worrying about it. There are so many people out on the water that it was not going to be a big deal even if something went wrong.
I am going to make sure that on our next trip, we find more sailing options. He really enjoyed that.
