Happy Half Century For Me!
May. 28th, 2019 11:00 pmWhen I turned 10, I was super excited to be a decade old. I was in the middle of a crisis in my marriage when I turned 25 (first marriage, divorced followed shortly thereafter and a vast improvement in my life) which prevented me from really enjoying the quarter century mark.
So a half century is very exciting to me!
We went to dinner and ate in the dining room (not at the bar, as we usually do) at 80 Thoreau. I had a Paper Plane and a Final Ward (they had a Last Word on the menu). I got the tuna, with beans and fried fiddleheads. It was all good, but the fiddleheads were particularly amazing.
Since this is a Tuesday, it was date night anyway, so required no planning in terms of getting a sitter. The cake turned out well. The creme anglaise wound up being closer to the custard I had been originally aiming for. R. got me a bottle of Remy XO, which is good, because we just finished off the previous one.
ETA: SIL and MIL both sent me flowers! How kind of them. Lots of nice FB birthday greetings and birthday phone calls and people singing happy birthday to me.
