Today, I had a walk with M. I also walked in beautiful weather to pick up A. It was breezy and not hot, but sunny. It was not particularly humid, and the bugs are not at all disruptive.
A. and the sitter went to see Ugly Dolls.
T. and I waited for the HVAC person from Papalia. I did not think much would come of this, however, I was overly pessimistic. T. wanted several things. There is some kind of more attractive cover thing for the exterior vent from a furnace (concentric kit? I do not know exactly what it was called). It looks like we will be getting that. He also wanted a return for the central air in his room and his own zone. I did not think he would get either. It turns out, he has to pick which one he wants more. We can have a dual split (electric heat pump) installed in his room, and he would have his own zone. He would not then need a return. OR he can have a return, which would let him close his door without disrupting how well the central HVAC system works. He is leaning pretty hard towards the dual split. R. would prefer the return; I do not really care.
We may also be getting a tankless hot water system, but we will have to do a bit more research on that, to make sure it does not require a massive modification to our natural gas line.
It will not be cheap, but hopefully, it will be smooth.
I got to thinking about the structure a bit more, and after talking to R., we think there actually is a location we could install an elevation from the first to the second floor. We only have a half bath on the first floor, which means that as we age and become more susceptible to being unable to safely manage full flights of stairs, it would be awful handy to be able to install an elevator versus having to move. I had thought there was no good location, but there actually is a really great spot in the front hall.
