I toured McCarthy-Towne, the other choice for A.’s school next year and we are definitely going with that one. I had to cancel my Dutch lesson because of the tour, but life goes on and hopefully contains more Dutch lessons in my future.
I walked with M. I also walked to and from the Parker Damon building. That was nice. It’ll be even nicer walking A. to and from school in coming years.
T. and I worked on his camp application form, and got it to a point where we were just waiting for forms from his doctor and school. We went grocery shopping at Donelan’s, and we dropped things off at the library (returned books and donated some things), and Dunkin Donuts.
R. and I went to 29 Sudbury for dinner at sat at the bar. I had the mussels diavolo and we both had raw oysters. I had a peach smash off the cocktail menu, and then asked for a manhattan. I asked what kind of cherries and was told straight up no luxardos, which, hey, nice to understand and give a straight answer. (I did not order a Vieux Carre because I looked at every bottle in that place and saw no Benedictine. I also didn’t see any Pernod, or other obvious absinth, so no Sazerac). Best of all, the remarkably capable bartender walked through which whisky and which vermouth, and _which bitters_. I completely approve of this bar. It’s still no Less Than Greater Than, but it was hopping on a Tuesday night and I can understand why. It is a welcoming and pleasant environment with competent mixing and, obviously, a phenomenal kitchen backing it all up.
I did, afterwards, wonder what the hell I was thinking just eating seafood for dinner, altho I did have some toasted bread with the Mussels. I ate a couple snowflake rolls from Donelan’s when I got home.
