Cycling!

Today, T. and therefore I did the loop around Tuttle/Lothrop/Spencer 4 times. He was tired enough after all that (we took another ride around the area on the new bike in the middle, and he had chocolate milk and I had water) he went inside, laid down on the kitchen floor and played with a toy truck until B. and B. showed up to take him to a bbq at M. and D.'s house.

Fun! Tiring.

This afternoon, I figured out a route to the library that did not involve main street. I tried it out and there are two flaws: there's a bit of a hill on one street (long, too) and there's an aggressive dog behind an electric fence that barks and paces. A little worrisome. Otherwise a pretty good choice, including the bridge over Route 2. Unfortunately, it involves riding through the school which on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend contains only a few cars for the tennis courts. But normally? Maybe a lot more going on there.

I also figured out what my REI dividend was and spent it on cycling crap (helmet for me, jersey for R., a bell and tray and cupholder for the Townie, a replacement reservoir for my small backpack, 2 cargo nets and a bottle cage). The cargo nets and the tray were what I really wanted. I remembered S. had cargo nets for his FJ1200 motorcycle and they were unbelievably useful and ridiculously sturdy and long-lived. I figure with the front tray rated at 20 pounds, I can put a re-usable grocery bag there, cargo netted down, and stash any damn thing I want to in it. It'll look amazingly tacky, which may or may not make it very Dutch.
