There is now a really big tree lying across our back-yard. This is the tree R. really wanted down, but wanted to wait until the ground was frozen, so as to avoid ripping the crap out of it.

He missed everything important. This is good.

I didn't even think it was something to worry about this time, so I missed watching it drop. I did not, however, miss hearing -- or feeling -- it drop.

Thump.

Arboricide used to bother me; now, however, I understand that this kind of forest replenishes itself quite rapidly. More rapidly than one might want, in fact.
