I really, really, really do not like prednisone. I think of it as That Pill That Makes Me Make Bad Decisions. I will take it when the alternative is clearly worse (like, vertigo. Wow, did vertigo suck). The worst bad decisions were when I took it without knowing it could contribute to bad decisionmaking. I could not stop coughing, so they gave me Prednisone and it was like magic. Also, I did stupid shit.

Anyway. I was young, and did not know. I had been putting off taking T. back to the doctor for a third time for the persistent cough, because there was no fever, and the school nurse said his lungs sounded clear. The only obvious next step was Prednisone, which I did not want for him. However, his energy levels dropped off a cliff and he seemed to be having more trouble catching his breath, so in we went. They switched to a third abx and/ gave him the expected prednisone, and he is starting to sound slightly better.

We also set up my recliner in his room (we tried the glider rocker but he did not care for the motion) for him to sleep in. Upright is better when dealing with airway issues.
