walkitoutI had R. swap his Friday for today, because it was T.'s half day and there was no way I was going to be able to pick him up and take him to gymnastics. So R. took care of that.
Meanwhile, after we got A. out the door, I drove in morning rush hour traffic to go to the Four Seasons for a conference on consumer and retail that UBS had. I attended the CFO presentations by Nordstrom's and Macy's, and the panel discussion about last mile delivery logistics, which had an ex Amazon person and (I think) current Fed Ex person. The discussion did _not_ stick to last mile, but that was okay; it was interesting and lively.

R. and I hung out with A. She had a play date which went really well. They played with the rainbow loom and made bracelets. After the play date, we went to Julie's Place, and I gave R. a summary of the day's presentations (I had taken notes. Yes, I am a nerd.). After some discussion, I decided to go down for the second day.
I got some news while I was in the first presentation, a phone call from a Seattle area code but a number I didn't recognize. I let it go to voice mail; it was a cousin telling me about my uncle passing away, which was expected. I called him back between presentations. Weird day in a lot of ways.
