Date: 2015-02-24 10:29 pm (UTC)I'm glad she got a job with better pay! Altho I really, really hope she got some of the non-pay things she wanted, too, but that's just because those probably would have mattered to me more than money in that situation.
I wonder who Nazareth filled the position with?
I do agree that the lack of transparency and the subjective components of hiring do tend to make it easy for bias to creep in. I don't know whether it's possible to change that, but would be interested in proposals.
ETA: Either way, it's a crap story for presenting women as doing badly in negotiations, because the larger story clearly shows this woman was successful in her overall negotiation -- losing this job offer was part of her ultimate success in getting something better.
