It was cold on the second floor today. For unclear reasons, the heat pump wasn’t operating. R. turned it off and on again and then drove A. to school. It made it hard to get up, so we were a little late getting A. out the door. Then, I couldn’t get it paused when it came up to temp to use the treadmill. Ah, technology. One loves it and one hates it.

I feel like the antibiotics I am on having entirely changed how I digest food. Which they probably have honestly. Cillins do that in a really bad for me way; this stuff … I dunno. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when I’m done with them.

Yesterday’s time on the treadmill I was chatting with Priestess and there were just a season’s worth of revelations from her object of affection. They’ve been trying to meet up in person (he’s way north in Canada) in Victoria, and there was some confusion about a variety of elements of the proposed trip. I was deeply skeptical of capacity-to-pay for the hotel, but I didn’t want her to have a miserable time, so I spotted her money for the hotel. Then they added another night, so I spotted her a bit more, but at this point, I’m really starting to wonder, especially since the dates of the trip moved 2 weeks later so everything is starting to get more expensive as it’s out of winter and starting to be spring for the trip.

The revelations included the following: in a dispute with Telus that is disrupting his cellular service / data service, definitely does not have capacity-to-pay, can’t afford the flight from where he is to Victoria, was entertaining the idea of flying to SeaTac and then taking the “water taxi” to Victoria. LOL. My dude, that will not save you money. There is so much ADHD in play here.

I talked to Priestess again today on the treadmill, because there’s so much to like about this gentleman, but there’s just no way it’s going to work for them in person, because the money situation is gonna make her nuts (she’s poor and avoids debt like the plague, and that is not his strategy), his attitudes around money are already triggering words like entitlement, and he has animals. He’s thinking she can get allergy shots and then the dander won’t bother her anymore. And he has this idea while also working as a nurse, so there’s at least some medical training in play and also a great deal of wishful thinking.

Priestess — unsurprisingly! — has a great deal of insight and awareness and is carefully attending to her feelings during this period when Reality hits Limerance and one’s internal state adjusts to reflect that new knowledge. She’s not in denial about any of it, which is great, and she’s not hurting too bad, which is also great. They seem to be having some of the best conversations either of them have ever had with anyone, and one would have to be both foolish and cruel to get in the way of that. Good talk is Peak Experience.

I’m looking forward to learning how this pair navigates this. I know everyone including me will learn a lot from the process, and I’m optimistic that they’ll also have a really enjoyable time conversing their way merrily through the various hiccups and obstacles life presents them with.
