No walk today. Alas.

R. is sick, but he did bring A. to school.

I drove out to the house, did the meeting, took a few pictures, capturing some siding going onto the turret. That was cool. I learned that the wall between the dining room and the living room is indeed a half wall, and nobody else knew that (I mean, the architect knew that). J. had reassured me that that was a model error. I had figured that was probably wrong, because I took a long hard look at that wall for structural members and there weren’t any. I thought about asking to have it removed entirely, but ultimately thought better of it for several reasons. When the opportunity arose today, I asked, learned it truly was a half wall, and had it made a whole wall.

There is no more wainscoting in the house. The last to go was the chair rail in the dining room, which … made no sense at all. Also, how weird that would have been on the half wall.

I picked up A., and we stopped at Roche Bros to buy ketchup and tots and carrots and wound up buying an outlandish amount of ice cream and candy. Fun!

I got really, really angry this morning, because there was email from J. from the plumber / HVAC about the fixtures in bathrooms 5 and 6. It turns out that the plumber is right that the sink in bathroom 5 is not on the Mass approved list. But the ones in bathroom 6 are fine. I ultimately wound up picking another from the same brand as in the vanity in bathroom 6, because I stared at them so long I started to really like them, and those bathrooms are on the same floor so why not have a little consistency. It was a little frustrating because the plumber was wrong about the vanity, and I’d worked so hard to get a vanity that fit, that was what my nieces wanted, that had everything but the faucet integrated, etc. The idea we were going to pitch it and have something custom made and have to pick out sinks just made me mad. But we don’t have to. It’s fine. I found the sink on the Mass approved list.

The on in bathroom 5 was NOT one I had picked out — it was one that someone at the architect’s firm picked out to replace the Toto one I had originally picked. I thought about going back to the Toto one, but figured someone would complain about that again for some reason, so I figure just go with one that matches what’s down the hall.
