Sunday: walks, talks
Apr. 21st, 2024 03:58 pmI had a delightful zoom with I.
I did the three mile loop with R. He pointed out the back of the engineer’s house as we walked along Windsor. Hilarious. We probably won’t be able to see it after leaf out, but yeah, it’s right there.
I did the one mile loop with M.
I did a load of laundry.
I took some recycling downstairs. I did a little filing. I did those in the wrong order. Oh well!
Yesterday, I Eufy’d both upstairs bathrooms and yesterday/today I’ve done toilets and some of the sinks and mirrors. I had R. vacuum the rugs in the bathrooms. I did some countertops. I vacuumed the master bedroom, including around the stereo, and I had R. debug why the TV headphones don’t charge/work. He replaced the batteries and I figured out where a plug had backed out and he did something with the wires and it is definitely now getting power. I should check to make sure they still work otherwise. Maybe next.
Yesterday I listened to an Odd Lots interview with Danielle Carr, about Adderall and stimulant use in the United States. It was kind of in response to this:
https://pioneerworks.org/broadcast/club-med-adderall
So I went and read those essays, too.
It was eye-opening. I knew that I knew a lot more people on ADHD meds than I had before, but I chalked that up to I was hearing from more people. But no, it’s really even more of a thing than it had been … ever. I’m now wondering if all the weird sleep stuff my friends are dealing with is subsequent to stimulant usage. So I also did some digging around to better understand what happens when you quit using stimulants. Yikes. Not good.
I’m absolutely going through my usual, The Fire Has Been Put Out So Time to Clear Up the Mess and Resume Normal Life, phase. This is not (directly) pandemic related (that fire has been out for a while). This is related to construction issues and A.’s school issues. With A. settling into Fusion, and construction relationships taking on a better tone, I’m going to go about my usual declutter until a project feels compelling, interrupted by naps.
