Today’s MEPFP coordination meeting was about 15 minutes long and required absolutely nothing from me. Woot! I talked to the site engineer after (yes, I confirmed that I agreed to redoing the driveway) and somewhat later the architect. He had some idea about taking part of the gym space as a pool related storage space. I really don’t want to add any further changes to the permit set and also, I kinda want to think about the storage issue on that floor a bit more generally. Skimmer should always hang on the wall; hiding it never is a good idea. He’s thinking Covermate II for the hot tub, but more or less at a stand for the main pool. This was my cue! I have been waiting for it! What about liquid pool cover.

But the chemicals.

Not much, you shouldn’t drink pool water and also it is alcohol and calcium hydroxide. Not exactly terrifying stuff.

But does it really work. I don’t know? I mean, everyone who does the bucket test (bucket with the liquid pool cover and bucket without) confirms that yep, slows evaporation. The biggest negative is wind, which we do not need to worry about. And evaporation — and the resulting need to dehumidify — is the biggest issue here. So …. He’s going to network his way to some opinions. Fingers crossed. I don’t have any personal experience, but this would by far be the simplest solution to a difficult problem. I do have a question about how it interacts with circulation / automated pool cleaning system.
