A.’s virtual playdate did not happen (unsurprising, but still somewhat sad). Family zoom _did_ happen. But even more important: we had a bunch of kids over to play board games. Someone else had the guest list and identified the activity and the time and part of the food; I just hosted. A. is the youngest of the participants (the only 9th grader) but she knows them all from Connections at the high school. They are really nice, sweet kids and way calmer than T.’s groups were. One of them settled the group on Monopoly pretty quickly and from there it was super smooth. A. had some meltdowns pre-party and when people were figuring out which game, but I got A. some food and sat in for her in the Monopoly game for a few turns and then R., A. and I rotated through that chair depending on who was available and interested. It worked really well.

It was a dropoff event, so no adult hang out time, but H. (R.’s cousin) called and we chatted.

The house is net cleaner than before the party, because I cleaned for the party and honestly, the kids were quiet and orderly so not hardly any mess at all. We restored everything, and I also go through daily laundry, so things are pretty good from a housekeeping perspective. We didn’t even buy anything particularly for the party. I put out the Sprite that was a somewhat accidental purchase and one of those went away. The apple cider was finished off and we opened another apple juice container, and I think someone had some OJ. There was gratitude for non-fizzy options, which kinda cracked me up. We supplied raw carrots, crackers, celery, raisins, oranges and chicken wings. Various people supplied hot dogs, pizza, popcorners, some Utz snack bags.

I would happily do an event like this twice a month forever; it would be fun.

Later, I opened up Horrified but couldn’t get A. interested. We did play a couple rounds of Brawl, tho, which was fun.

I got email from Her Universe asking me to rate what I had ordered. This prompted me to call their customer service. They offered either re-order or refund and I opted for the refund. We’ll see if it shows up.
