Friday: phone call, FF
Nov. 10th, 2023 11:00 pmWe all slept in. Loving the long weekend, and the weekend technically starts tomorrow.
I had a delightful phone call with K.
I had a delightful zoom cocktail hour.
A.’s bento box arrived and it is super cute and looks like it will probably work out.
I walked with M.
I made waffles. We cooked bacon. We’re thawing a chicken, but will probably cook it tomorrow, because it’s taking a while to thaw.
One of today’s Maintenance Phase listens was with A., and about the Omnivore’s Dilemma. Really interesting to revisit that. Great episode.
CSA box arrived and I cooked the greens. We now have a _lot_ of squash in the house. Maybe some pie? Definitely soup.
I also started putting some of the MWU stuff into a google doc. I had A. read it and she had questions that were mostly answered by pulling up a map of the M, and pointing out the various named seas along the northern edge. I then looked closely at the southern edge, and noticed the lack of names there. Hmmm. Further evidence of overall thesis tho! The bias is deep. But I _also_ noticed the Chott el Djerid and read a bit about that. Reminiscent of the Salton Sea, and also of course the Star Wars connection. I don’t know how I failed to know about the existence of Tataouine as a city and as a governate, but I can’t feel too bad because no one at FF had any idea either. I went looking for pollen studies in the Chott el Djerid, but all that would have likely been around the time of the Arab Spring or later, which started in Tunisia and that level of security concern means that a lot of research just goes elsewhere. I did find some work, and will look for more later; I ran out of time.
