Friday: walk, sleeping in
Sep. 2nd, 2022 04:19 pmNo school! I slept in. It was glorious.
R. went kayaking. He had fun.
I had a phone call with K. It was delightful!
I made a very thick batter with a couple eggs, some oil, a cup or so of fresh ground whole wheat flour, and a half cup of sugar, a little cinnamon sugar and some baking powder. I put some of it on the bottom of a loaf pan, and then I cooked on the stove some sliced peaches until they let some of their moisture go. I put the peaches on top of the base layer, mixed the moisture that came out of the peaches into the rest of the batter, and poured the rest of the much looser batter on top of the peaches. I cooked it (started at 400, but turned it down after a bit) until the batter had set up. I was trying to prevent the soupy moisture that collects at the bottom of a lot of peach desserts with topping, and this was wildly successful. In addition, the batter snuck down the sides, so I basically had peach in the middle of a cake. Which was weird, but awesome! Looked much more organized and intentional than my baking experiments usually turn out.
I am dehydrating sage. The whole house smells like sage now.
