There is a wonderful Sandra Boynton artwork showing a map, and saying simultaneously happy vernal equinox / happy autumnal equinox. I want it on a canvas! Oh well. Maybe some day!

R. took A. to the doctor to get a strep test. I expect this to come back negative, but you never know. She still sounds terrible; I cannot imagine her going to school tomorrow.

In the meantime, I am reading _Fuzz_ for tomorrow’s book group.

“the species the FAA considers “the most hazardous wildlife to US civil aircraft”: the white-tailed deer. … impacts injured 26 people and caused, on average, six times as much aircraft damage as other wildlife strikes. Only Canada geese, red-tailed hawks, and pelicans caused more aviation deaths. Deer strikes have happened on landing, during takeoff, and while taxiing. Obviously no deer have struck planes at cruising altitude.”

I cannot stop laughing. I shouldn’t be laughing! But still.

“Less obviously, two animals struck planes that were parked.”
