Family News Day

I walked by myself.
R. (Priestess) is having a really frustrating and overwhelming time at work. She is doing a great job, but it is a tough situation. I wish I had some way to help her out, but other than providing emotional support, I can think of nothing. Validation it is, then!
I got a call from my cousin J. (Maternal side of the family)This is nice; there were a lot of updates about the younger generations upcoming plans for handling wedding preparations in the Now. In many ways difficult, but for at least G., I think this forces a simple civil ceremony in about as positive a way as can be imagined. There are some more complex and sad things going on as well, that unfortunately are very intractable. *sigh* I brought him up to date on my end of things, but that was not the reason for the call. They have been quarancleaning, or, going through old paperwork and pictures and so forth. Good for them! Anyway, it turns out that his MIL (who died the year he was born, so obviously they never met) was a WAC. Super cool! (the WAC part, not the dying while his wife was young part). His wife had long ago tried to get through the process of accessing her military records, but was stymied by lack of an SSN. My cousin poked around at the freely available version of ancestry, and noticed that ancestry probably had the information, but only made it available with the subscription. So he called me, and I got to collect some genealogical information and we were both extremely satisfied with the exchange of news and information.
I also got a text from my cousin R. (Paternal side of the family) An uncle passed away. He made it a few months older than his father did, and while I do not know the specifics, there is no particular reason to believe it was related to the pandemic (altho of course anything can be). I had not realized his wife was suffering from dementia. That was a little surprising. I am grateful to my cousin R. for letting me know promptly. She is a wonderful woman and I am soooo lucky to be related to her.
