A. slept in, but when she got up, she was willing to go to school. Alas, they didn’t want her for another hour, until the MCAS testing was done. That’s a whole weird thing: try to bring your kid to school and they are like, can you bring her back in an hour? And call us first?
I walked with M. and then did the long loop. I foolishly walked in Crocs (first time in a while, barefoot in crocs for a long walk) and wound up with three or four blisters. Ouch.
I went to Roche Bros for groceries. Because we are still doing two boxes (Plated and Sun Basket) of meal kits each week, groceries is basically now breakfast food, kids lunches and dinners (American cheese, bread, chicken nuggets — that kind of thing), fruit, cole slaw and/or salad makings. I’m buying way less AND we’re eating a lot more meals at home (and I’m buying less even accounting for what is arriving in the meal kits). If I eventually learn meal planning out of this, and no longer rely on meal kits, my grocery bill is going to be amazingly low. Altho the liquor store bill will more than make up for it, I feel sure.
We went to the new Concord Rapscallion last night, so I bought a bottle of Creme de Violette, because I had a vodka aviation and really liked it. I also bought a bottle of Strega because, saffron mint and fennel — I mean, who knew?
Today’s drink, however, was Monol of the Glen, a Glen Rothes drink (Glen Rothes, Cointreau, Antica and chocolate bitters, orange twist for garnish). Bizarrely, it hits exactly the same notes as eating dark chocolate flavored with orange.
