Today's Activities Include: backup woes
Apr. 12th, 2016 04:15 pmTurns out my new ipad has been not finishing its restore for ... many days. I poked at it for a bit, looked through the apps and found ones that didn't download (did not care), found music that didn't download (also did not care) and videos that didn't download (REALLY did not care). Some of these things I didn't really expect to download because I've gone to some effort to not include them in backups (they were bought on the store and thus redownloadable from there, or are in itunes match, etc.).
I attempted to do the latest OS update -- to fix that horrifying brick your ios device with a date in 1970 hack that someone figured out how to automated with a link -- and it said, not until the restore is done. Which honestly, I wasn't sure if it was ever going to finish. So I termed the restore after a few more hours, did the update, and am now attempting to get the new device to produce a backup. I had to delete the old backup in order to make the new one because I really hate the idea of expanding payments to icloud when, in theory, I don't really give much of a fuck about anything on any of these devices anyway (it is either in icloud via notes, calendar, match, etc. or it is preserved by the service backing up the mobile app or whatever). (If you're thinking, but wait! I still have the old device sitting right here. It's okay. And again, if I lost it all, I WOULD NOT CARE. All the photos are in flickr anyway.)
Fingers crossed that this backup works. I'm getting very bored with poking at this stuff.

I had a Dutch lesson today! That was really fun. Went for a walk in the drizzle in the morning; just hung out with my walking partner M. in the afternoon. Oh, and I'm baking bread. That smells really good.
