The house cleaner was having the Worst Day Ever, so I gave her a really big tip and sent her out the door early, because no one should be having a day like she was having. I got to clean the kitchen, which meant I finally had an excuse to do the parts that never get done (like cleaning the wall next to the stove, and vacuuming the shelves of one of the shoe racks by the door to the garage, and scrubbing the rack in the toaster oven so it is Shiny again the way it is supposed to be. Oh. The Miracle of Steel Wool).
We had two babysitters, so we were going to go out to dinner, but son got back before we had a chance to sneak out the door. Route 2 has signs warning about flash freezing and T. was already stressed about the snow so that was the end of that. I had a mushroom omelette and home fries for dinner, and a manhattan made with: Hibiki 12 Suntory Whisky, Lacuesta Vermouth, Angostura bitters and a couple Luxardo cherries. I still like the Whistlepig rye better, but this is a perfectly acceptable substitute (I'm not that impressed by the Ri) with a radically different flavor profile.
I'm debating whether I should make german chocolate cake tonight. I made blondies (which will go into the freezer shortly, after I cut them up), and chocolate banana frozen dessert is in the freezer ... freezing. I bought the coconut and coconut milk to make it last week and have been meaning to, since I promised a friend one of the layers and I'm only keeping one in the house. OTOH, I'm a little tired, what with shoveling snow and so forth.
