I am such a sick puppy. I can't believe how many books I'm going through these days.

Today's mail brought me Robbie Davis-Floyd's every-so-slightly updated _Birth as an American Rite of Passage_, which was worth it just for the other stuff she mentions in the new preface, including this:

I'm attempting to order a copy. If it is as good as I think it will be, it should be a one-shot, requires no reading way to bring people up to speed on, well, I may be crazy, but I'm not alone and I'm not wrong, either.

Also in the mail was _The Cell_, 3rd edition. Like all science textbooks, very heavy in all senses of the term, but that's okay. Maybe I'll be able to absorb something useful about cellular biology. Er, or something. And, supposedly that lovely poster about the arachadonic acid cascade is on the way in a few days.

And last, but by no means least, _Dead to the World_ (gotta have a little fun, right?) and _Evidence of Harm_. Fortunately, most of the damage I've been doing lately has been putting things on hold at the library. On the scary side, R. and I are planning on going to Portland tomorrow. You know what that means: Powells. Oof. I should be out buying a body pillow or witch hazel or something, but no. Not me. Can't leave the books alone.
