Ray Nagin selfpubs memoir through CreateSpace

He was on the Daily Show promoting it recently.
I don't think this was a case of no-one-would-buy-it. Nagin indicated he wanted to be able to speak freely and he thought that wouldn't work as well through a more traditional agent/publisher route. I have not bought it and don't anticipate doing so, altho that's as much because it is well outside any of my current areas of interest as for any other reason. It is interesting, however, that he made that choice; we'll have to see if it is an isolated instance or the beginning of a trend. I was pleased that a Nagin memoir -- which _would_ have landed on the Daily Show if published by one of the Big 6 -- got time on the Daily Show even though it was selfpubbed.

How many novels have you formatted?
How many clients have you had?
What are your rates?
Do clients come back for repeat business?
Would any of your clients be willing to be identified so we can take a look at the quality of your work?
We've had an on-and-off again discussion in this blog regarding the quality of self-pubbed books and just how much it really costs for selfpubbers to reproduce the services provided by more traditional publishers. We'd love more data.
I don't anticipate "jeny ruelo" actually responding, since she asked me who did the formatting of Ray Nagin's book. Also, "jeny ruelo" has really odd grammar. Here's hoping it's because she's not a native speaker of English, and that her "formatting" services do not extend to anything resembling proofing or copyediting.
