Sunday: Brick Fest Live in Marlborough, track, homework, Raya

I went to Brick Fest Live in Marlborough. AC Pin had a really lovely long table set up, with flowers for most of it, but a bunch of Star Wars as well. Far and away the best thing about going to Brick Fest Live.

I was a little surprised at how long the line was going in (I got there around 9:20 or so; I bought a VIP ticket back when I was at the Cape in August), and how packed the parking lot was.

This is the first of this type of thing I have ever been to; I ignored food, free build and the stage, and made no ever to acquire any merch whatsoever. I was basically there to look at the tables. There was a circle of big sculptures, and there was a square of smaller sculptures and a couple big squares of tables. The big squares were a mix of small tables (some kids around 12 or so, with their built kits and some small MOCs) and larger tables with bigger builds. In one case, someone had a massive batch of modulars and scenery, airport, train running around the whole thing, etc.; they appear to be running some kind of lego themed extra-curricular. There were people who run reseller shops. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some category. (Oh, there were big sculptures that were set up as photo props.)

I spent under an hour there (maybe 40 minutes? Maybe less). If I had it to do over, I probably would have spent more time looking at AC Pin’s table, and probably would have put effort into chatting with him — he emoted friendly, but wasn’t starting convos with anyone, and I have no idea what the etiquette is, but I am pretty sure if I’d walked up and done the Pose in front of him with a grin, he’d have been happy to chat and it would have been a good experience. But I don’t really know anything about any of this stuff; I learn as I go.

R. took T. to track; they were driving out as I was returning. I got A. to do her math homework and one of the slides for her English project due Tuesday. It was a What Kind of Movies/Shows Do You Watch slide, and I suggested she do Bad Batch, Monsters at Work, and then it was tricky getting her to commit to the last, but she decided Raya and the Last Dragon, and after she finished the slide, she went and re-watched Raya and the Last Dragon.

I’m making blondies. I will try not to hurt myself eating too many of them.
