Happy Friday!
Apr. 10th, 2026 09:40 amNo school today. Woot!
I will be catching up on blogging, because I got behind again.
In the news today, apparently the remaining person from the aircraft that was shot down in Iran was rescued, and if the WSJ is to be believed / the administration is to be believed, a C-130 was landed in the mud in Iran, and some Extremely Special Partially Folding helicopters taken out of the C-130, flown over to the mountainous terrain the person was hiding in. Someone got him out of the crevice and into the helicopter and back to the C-130 which was not able to take off, so the C-130 and all 3 of the helicopters were destroyed (!!!) and everyone somehow removed in an unspecified other aircraft.
I don’t even know what to say, other than that was probably a quarter of a billion dollars used to rescue one guy. This is the kind of romantic gesture that novels get mocked for. Also, this is the kind of gesture that communicates extremely clearly to interested bystanders the lengths to which the US is prepared to go to retrieve our people.
Anyway, I hope the flyer is okay, and I hope everyone else is okay, and I hope that this has the right kind of deterrent effect on the correct groups of people. I think it will. Fingers crossed.
It’s a sunny day, and I’m looking forward to a walk with M.
